“O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.”
Psalm 63:1
Lord,
Even if my soul could thirst to the utmost, entirely.
Even if my flesh could faint for you, exclusively.
What could I gain without your grace, constantly.
My strongest desires reveal my weakest virtues, ironically.
And my wildest dreams, still so tame, comparably.
But Lord, I implore you, so desperately
That my parched lips, might drink this living water, undeservedly
And that the unmatchable joy you inspire would consume my heart, completely.
Amen
